Half Moon Herbals

Farm & Apothecary
Nikola Barsoum is a certified Community Herbalist, Permaculture Designer, Ecological Farmer, and owner of Half Moon Herbals. She offers monthly Learnng Circles, a Medicine Garden Mentorship program, and Permaculture Consultations for urban and rural locations. Nikola has been running her small-scale ecological operation at Fertile Ground since 2021.

The Caring Mushroom

Eric of The Caring Mushroom grows a variety of mushrooms in the Waterloo Region: oysters, chestnuts, shiitake and more. He offers an optional mushroom share add-on for CSA members who would like to receive a 1/2lb of mushrooms with their weekly veggies.

Vernon Burkhart

Vernon took over Bowman's Organic Produce in Wallenstein a couple of years ago and specializes in fall storage crops. Fall crops have always been a challenge for us to manage at our farm as their mid-summer planting schedule comes while we're often overwhelmed with big CSA harvests, drought and weeds. We've been so happy to contract him to grow some of the fall crops for our CSA, including leeks, cabbage, celeriac, onions and sweet potatoes. His vegetables are of fabulous quality and he is pleased to be supporting another local farm rather than trucking his crops to Toronto.

Laepple Organic Farm

All of our CSA potatoes are grown at Linda and Fritz Laepple's certified organic farm just outside of Petersburg. The Laepples grow excellent potatoes - much better than our sandy soil will ever produce - and have the equipment to do it without breaking backs like we would.

Kingwood Farm

Mike and Debbie Loepp farm in Wellesley where they grow field squash as well as tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers in their greenhouses. They've been growing squash for our CSA since 2009! Kingwood Farm is a Certified Organic operation.
