Fertile Ground is a small, ecological farm offering a bounty of vegetable goodness. If fresh, local & organic food gets you excited, we’ll probably get along.
We produce vegetables, eggs and garden seedlings at our farm in West Waterloo.

Say NO to Expropriation of Prime Agricultural Land
Wilmot Township, the Region
of Waterloo and the provincial government are threatening farmers and landowners of 770 acres
of prime farmland with expropriation should they refuse to sell their land for
a manufacturing mega-site. When land is lost from agriculture for development, the loss is permanent.
Farmer Angie started growing vegetables at Fertile Ground in 2008 with a wee 18 week CSA for 30 members. Since then, lots has changed, but much has stayed the same. We still use the same ecological farming methods and sell 100% locally in the Waterloo Region - mostly to our CSA members, but also to a few fabulous local restaurants and grocers. We still have a personal relationship with everyone who buys our food and we still do a LOT of our fieldwork by hand (too much!). BUT.... we're proud of some evolution too:
●
Our CSA now feeds over 300 households
●
Our staff are all paid a Living Wage
●
We feed people April-December
●
We distribute over $12K of free produce annually
●
We partner with Seeds of Diversity Canada to save rare seed
●
We've become Farmer-Led Researchers
Angie & team love getting our hands dirty and farming in ways that
root us in hope and cultivate our wonder. We'd love to share this with
you: get connected to your food story and be inspired to get excited
about your food!
