*Positions filled for 2017*
Fertile Ground is a small, organic vegetable farm operating on a beautiful 100 acre property near Waterloo, ON. Our mixed production includes 10 acres of garden (with 4 in vegetable production annually), pastured laying hens & ducks, 40 acres hay, and honeybees. We partner with a mixed livestock producer to provide pastured meats to our customers as well. Since building relationships with the people we feed is really important to us, most of our produce is sold through our 250 member CSA, supplemented by some local restaurant & retail sales. We have 2 seedling greenhouses and 1 tomato high tunnel. Although we do a lot of hand work, we have 2 Farmall tractors that we use for primary and in-row cultivation. 2017 goals include experimenting with tillage reduction and further expansion of our cover crop regime. Our team includes the lead farmer (Angie Koch), Field Manager, and a mixed crew of staff, interns and volunteers. Some live on site, some commute. While the landscape is very rural, we are a mere 10 minute drive from the west edge of the city of Waterloo.
